Kathy Chiron has served as President of the League of Women Voters in two cities – DC and Hong Kong – both cities with challenging concerns with democracy. Kathy also served as a member of the board and chair of the American Women’s Association Hong Kong, an organization of 1000 women from 45 countries. Since returning to the States, Kathy’s volunteer efforts include working with the National Women’s Foundation, National Council of Jewish Women, and now the Clearinghouse on Women’s Issues. She was instrumental in establishing voting rights for incarcerated residents of DC and worked closely with the DC Department of Corrections as they instituted a polling center in the Jail staffed by residents.
Kathy also has had retail experience working for May Department Stores (anyone remember Hecht’s?) in the States and Hong Kong.
Kathy earned a bachelors degree from Cornell University and a Masters in Education from George Washington University and continues to be a life-long learner by taking classes at Georgetown University.
